The Academy

Total Soccer Academy currently has 4 age groups on the boys side: 2015. 2014. 2013. and 2012. Each year, we add one age group on the younger side (e.g., 2016, then 2017, etc.). We will also add a girls program in 2025.

We do not have multiple teams in each age group, such as a “premier” team, “B” team, etc. Instead, we focus all of our time and resources on creating the best experience for a smaller amount of elite players.

All roster spots for games and tournaments are merit-based, and equal game-time is never guaranteed. This pushes our players to work hard and avoid complacency, leading to higher levels of performance development.

Players who excel in one age group will have the opportunity to train & compete with older age groups.

FAQ's About the Academy

What is the goal of the Academy?

In the short term, we hope to develop the most elite players Utah has to offer in these age groups. In the long term, we hope to be able to provide players with collegiate and professional pathways and playing opportunities.

How many players will be accepted on each team?

Each team carries 15-20 players in the training groups.

What age groups will this cover?

For 2025, we will be taking four boys teams and four girls teams born in the years of 2012-2016.

Will we train in winter?

Yes, part of the appeal of an Academy is to be able to train 4 times a week all year. In winter, we will train outside when weather permits, and inside when there's too much snow on the ground. **We will take one month off in December for the holiday schedule.

Can we play club and academy?

Yes; some players will choose to be full-time with the Academy while others may choose to be part-time and still prioritize club soccer. We respect each person's decision and think club soccer still has a lot to offer. We will, however, be training and playing in games & tournaments year round.

How often will we train?

The Academy will provide 4 supplemental training sessions a week for 1.5 hours each session. These are supplemental to your club trainings.

When will we know if we've been accepted to the Academy?

December 2024. We will be holding private group sessions to scout top talent over the next few months. We will also be holding a combine/try-out for invited players sometime in the Winter to finalize rosters and make official invites.

What should we do if we don't get in?

Total Soccer Academy provides other services that replicate the model of the Academy at a smaller scale. We provide private training, camps, team training as well as other training opportunities that can be found on our website.
